A Revised Christmas Story

Once upon a time (more like 2,000) a girl was approached by a supernatural being. After she overcame her fright the winged creature announced that she would soon be pregnant! (She could have been on 16 and pregnant) Not only would she be pregnant, but she would carry Yahweh’s Son. She accepted the task with a graceful curtsy and the angel disappeared as mysteriously as it had come. Mary, for that was her name, was overcome with worry. She was afraid what her friends would say and post on Facebook, being she was engaged and still a virgin. Joe, (Mary’s fiancé) was heartbroken at the sight of his pregnant, soon to be wife. Not being able to withstand the heart break he left her quietly. (Nothing was posted to his status.) A month or so later, Joe was sleeping and frightened awake by an angel! The majestic being scolded Joe for not believing Mary. He said, this is no ordinary pregnancy but an act of God. The angel also said, Joseph was chosen to help raise the Lord’s Son. A month later Joe and Mary (who was very pregnant) started their journey to Bethlehem aboard their lemon of a camel. A week or two (and many bathroom breaks later), they finally reached their destination. Joseph checked every hotel and motel in the entire city and all were booked. (Shad, Me-Me, and Ben were having a reunion concert.) He finally found a Bed and Breakfast on the outskirts of town, which had a barn they could stay in. Mary was thankful and wrote a great online review for the B&B with the only complaint, saying, “the pigs always hogged the warm hay.” Joe had found them a room just in the knick of time, and very soon baby screams could be heard. His name was Jesus.

Ok, so maybe that’s not how it happened exactly, but the story is the same. Because of the birth of Jesus we now can live for eternity. God gave us the best gift we could ever ask for and now its our turn to pass it on. Let someone else experience the beautiful gift you were given.
