What is Healthy
Healthy. What does it mean? For most, it means they feel good and are not battling a cold. However, for me, it means something different and it was something I had to discover.
As most of y’all know I was in the hospital last year due to
pancreatitis and the biggest blessing to come out of it was having my gallbladder
removed. This simple procedure proved most beneficial to me, as I started to
feel better and my other symptoms started to disappear. Within weeks my heart stopped racing, my
joints felt better, and I wasn’t as nauseous. But as the weeks went on, I expected
more symptoms to leave but to my dismay, they didn’t.
I felt like maybe I wasn’t healed. Maybe God had no intent
on healing me. That is when he opened my eyes to realize how health is subjective.
What’s healthy to me may not be healthy for you. I see
healthy as in my nerve pain isn’t debilitating, not that it’s gone but that it’s
minimal. Maybe for someone else, it’s if their body isn’t achy. For another, it
may be that they don’t have a cold. Your health is all in how you see it.
A friend of mine once said, “Health is in the eye of the
beholder. And a great deal of it is mentality. Your attitude will affect health
but what is healthy in one person’s eyes is not necessarily true for another.” I
believe my friend hit it right on the head with referring to your mentality. Now
I don’t believe that if you smile your problems will go away but I do know that
if you choose to put your best foot forward it greatly affects your recovery.
So next time you start to feel ill think of the things you
are blessed with in life. I bet you will see yourself recover quicker than you expected!
